EU Pay Transparency and Belgian time registration: what the obligation asks of you, and what you do with it afterwards.
On 30 September 2026, the Belgian National Labour Council issued advice on the introduction of mandatory time registration. The obligation applies from 1 January 2027, with a transition period until 1 April 2027. For many organisations this is the moment not only to choose a system, but to think about what that registration can mean beyond compliance.
Pay Transparency demands more than a report. It forces organisations to explain how roles, growth and reward relate to one another. And that is precisely where the opportunity lies.
Belgium is preparing a general obligation for working time registration. This could become a new layer of administration. Or it could finally make visible how work is actually organised.
Most of the information you need already exists. The difficulty is that today, it doesn't necessarily describe the same reality.
